Isernia is a small town in the central Italian region of Molise. This mountainous region is surrounded by spectacular landscapes and rich woods.

It is an absolutely charming place with many attractions on offer, the most important ski slopes of Molise are situated in Isernia where not only the classic downhill skiing but also cross-country skiing, ski tours and Alpine style skiing can also be enjoyed. For adventure enthusiasts trekking, horseback riding, cycling, golf and paragliding are great options available. Isernia also boasts of a delightful collection of various artisan crafts which makes it a must-visit place for any art lover.

There are many monuments in the city which are worth exploring, the Fontana della Fraterna (dedicated to Pope Celestine V) and Church of San Francesco (built in 1222 at the behest of Francis of Assisi on a visit to Isernia) are great examples of the archaeological heritage of this place. The Palazzo San Francesco is a gleaming example of gothic architecture and the beautiful Castles found in abundance can be appreciated externally as they are either closed or in private hands. One of the most valuable things found in this province is abundance of truffles, both black and white, which is an exquisite gourmet ingredient. While the local cuisine is fresh and simple, the freshness of produce and availability of the most delicious selection of cheese and wine makes it a  culinary delight.
