Travelling to Ahmedabad isn’t a hassle at all, for it’s got a well developed transport system in place. You can easily catch a flight, board a bus or hop on a train to this marvellous place, for it’s the largest city in the state. Add to it the fact that it’s the most important centre of the whole of Gujarat. Take a quick look at the best of transport options to reach Ahmedabad:

  • Air

If fast and comfortable commuting is your idea of travelling, Ahmedabad has Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. It caters to both international as well as domestic flights with Air India, Kuwait Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Singapore Airlines and Air India offering flights to and from the city. It’s aptly located at just 15 kilometers from the City Centre.  It is one of the poshest airports in Gujarat and is also the eighth busiest airport in India.

  • Train

The Ahmedabad Railway Station, also known as Kalupur Station is the main station for trains in the city. Falling under the jurisdiction of Western Railway, it’s one of the busiest ones in Gujarat. Trains from all the major Indian cities have direct connectivity with Ahmedabad. The other important stations in the city are Vatva, Gandhigram, Asarva, Chandlodia, Kali gam, Vastrapur, Sabarmati, Sarkhej, Naroda and Aam.

  • Road

If burning rubber and hitting off the roads is your cup of tea, the roads to Ahmedabad are certainly the perfect ones. An extensive network of roads connect the city to all the major ones across India. National Highway 8 is the major crowd puller, connecting it from Delhi and Mumbai. Other than that, there’s the well constructed National Highway 1, a part of the much hyped Golden Quadrilateral project, that links it to Vadodara.

Whatever your preferred mode of transport be, you are bound to have an easy time. Ahmedabad ranks high on the tourist map of India, and thus, has the best of facilities for the ease of tourists. Moreover, a chunk of travellers to the city are foreign nationals and NRIs, making for a major source of revenue. So, no stone, including transportation, has been left unturned to make it a hit with tourists.
