Which are the different modes to reach Ajmer?

0 people found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

Though Ajmer does not have an airport of its own, it’s nothing less than well connected. Trains, state run and private buses and Jaipur Airport make it quite an accessible destination for tourists. Here’s a quick look at what all possible ways you can get to the oasis city:

  • Air

At a distance of 132 kms and 1.5 hour away, Jaipur International Airport (IATA: JAI, ICAO: VIJP) is the nearest airport to Ajmer. Air Arabia, Air India Express, Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Oman Air and many other major airlines offer flights to Jaipur. It has the capacity of handling a 1000 passengers and there are plans for major expansion. You can take a bus or a taxi (get a prepaid one right at the airport) from here to reach Ajmer. The great news is that there’s a government proposal to set up an airport at Ajmer itself. So fret not, help may already be on the way. Check the flight booking option on ixigo and find regular flights to Ajmer.

  • Train

Ajmer has got quite an impressive network of trains that connects it to all the major cities like Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Udaipur and more. You can hop aboard the impressively fast Shatabdi Express or the overnight Delhi-Ahmedabad Mail from Delhi. With multiple websites and mobile apps available out there, it is quite easy to do online train ticket booking as well as checking PNR Status.

  • Road

If you like the rustle of wind against your hair and the screech of tyres on the gravel, here’s some info for you. A six lane highway connects Ajmer to Jaipur and a pleasant drive of some 2 hours; it’s also connected to the exotic city of Jodhpur in the other direction at a distance of 4 to 5 hours. State run and private buses are preferred by many of the tourists. You can also check out the cars for hire at carrentalsinrajasthan.com.

Considering the fact that Ajmer is located in proximity to the rest of Rajasthan, Delhi and the neighbouring areas, reaching it is no big deal. So you can leave all your worries behind and get ready to have an unforgettable time at the oasis city.
