Sea breezes touch your body, the slanting rays of the setting sun light up the horizon and your feet is immersed in half sand-half water and you think nothing can be more beautiful than this. Suddenly you realise you are standing on the tip of a big country, the endmost tip and your heart  goes ‘wow’. Yes, such is the feeling at the beaches of this town. So, select from these beaches and let this feeling take over.

  • Sanguthurai Beach

A beautiful beach with white sands and pristine water, minus the crowd and the congestion- what more can you ask for! And if you are asking for more, this place will give you more. Travel just 9 km from the town of Nagercoil and you will be welcomed with by a huge white pillar with a black conch. A little part of history seeps in with this as this was built during the reign of the Chola dynasty. The best time to visit this beach is during the evening as the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue can be seen on the horizon. The silhouettes of these monuments against the evening sky will take your breath away!

  • Thengapattinam Beach

For this you have to go 35 km from Nagercoil but don’t mind the distance as every second spent on commuting to Thengapattinam beach will be compensated by the picturesque coconut and palm trees that sway with the wind near the blue ocean and the white sands. A perfect spot for a picnic in the shade of the trees, you can also enjoy a ride in one of the catamaran. An old mosque, which has been in the village for 1200 years, is also a must-see for tourists.

  • Kanyakumari Muttom Beach

The sunrise and sunset, seen specially from Kanyakumari Muttom beach has become a cliche. Every traveller knows about it and everyone who has been to the town has come back after seeing it. But this doesn’t mean that its unique and exotic tinge have dwindled down. Its the same sunrise and sunset but here, it is as if the place has done magic to it. Being the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal, the waves of this spot are quite forceful. Let this water filled with the strength of nature as it touches your body and you will feel like nature has been truly kind to you. Don’t miss out a trip to the beach on a full moon days in April as you can see sunset and moonrise at the same moment. Another cliche but worth every word!

The beaches of Kanyakumari are a testimonials of the wonders of nature. Be awestruck, be surprised, get inspired, you will respect nature more after a trip to this place and feel a positive vibe that will remain with you long after the vacation is over.
