The market place in Jamnagar is a riot of colours, with tourists and city folks making for much of the humdrum. Once you enter the thriving bazaars of Jamnagar, it’ll be hard to resist the lure of picking some collectibles. If netting in some reminders of your holiday is what you are eager for, pick a souvenir or two like:

  • Brass Art Pieces

An earthy, rust like glint from a display case will be all that you would need to get hooked to these marvellous pieces. Skilled craftsmen spend hours, bent over a raw brass sheet, metamorphosing it into a piece of beauty and wonder. Wind chimes, ashtrays, swords, decor pieces, bangles, beetle nutcrackers, wooden chests with brass engravings and more, all in brass. You won’t have imagined brass in so many avatars! The ones left back at home are going to love these!

  • Bandhani

The famous bandhani work, popularly known as tie and dye, is nothing less than eye catching. If a colourful something fluttering in the wind catches your eye from across the shopping lanes in Jamnagar, it’s nothing other than a charming piece of bandhani. Sarees, lehengas, dupattas, chaniyas, skirts and more, bandhani is all around the place in the city. A bandhani saree will cost you upwards of INR 500. Don’t forget to bring home these little rainbows.

Wooden Artifacts

Traditional artwork over wood will have you hooked to the bylanes of Jamnagar’s Super Market. Flaunt your bargaining skills here for you can save a lot while picking up some exquisite keychains, cell phone holders, vases, pen holders, bangle stands, clocks, chess boards and more - all in wood. Plus, there are those colourful paintings on wood too!

Pretty much like the whole of Gujarat, Jamnagar’s bustling bazaars teem with handicrafts of all sorts. Most of the items that are a hit with tourists come across like an assortment of candies, wrapped in different colours, all shining and luring with a distinct charm. Did that make you think of all the shopping bags that you’ll be taking home!
