Planning to go to one of the hill stations near Delhi by train? Well, with the exception of Shimla, the other hill stations are not directly connected by train. As far as Shimla is concerned, you may catch a train to Kalka and then proceed to Shimla by hopping aboard a Toy Train. The Delhi to Kalka trains include Himalayan Queen, Kalka Shatabdi, and Paschim Express. Kalka Shatabdi is the fastest train and gets you to Kalka in a little over 4 hours’ time. From Kalka, the most popular trains to Shimla include ‘Deluxe Rail Motor Car’, ‘The Shivalik Deluxe Express’, ‘The Shivalik Palace (Tourist Coach)’, and ‘The Shivalik Queen Tourist Coach’.

Besides Shimla, you may consider Mussoorie if you want to check out one of the hill stations near Delhi by train. For this journey, you can catch a train till Dehradun. After that it involves a road trip of roughly 1 hour to reach Mussoorie. A couple of popular Delhi to Dehradun trains are Shatabdi Express and Jan Shatabdi. The train journey time from Delhi to Dehradun is roughly 6 hours.
