Festivals addsparkling colors to our life and you will be pleasantly surprised to know that Jaipur’s  festivities calendar is booked all through the year. Make sure you are a part of the colorful and sparkling festivals that are celebrated with much fervor and excitement in Jaipur.

  • Gangaur Festival

    You will love to be a part of this festival that truly captures the local essence and flavor of the
    Rajasthani culture. Held every year during the month of March, this is celebrated mainly by married women, although men also take part in the celebration. The festival is held in the honor of Gauri, who symbolizes fidelity, virtue and an ideal role model of  a married woman. As how it is celebrated in Jaipur, you can see a grand possession with Gauri’s image which is carried all across the beautiful city and finally converge near Talkatora. A sweet dish, Ghewar, characterizes Gangaur Festival and people buy it and distribute it to their relatives and friends. It commences a day after Holi and is celebrated for about 15 days. Another interesting feature of this festival is that it acts the perfect wedding platform for tribal women and men who meet and interact and eventually select their respective partners and marry by eloping. The venue for this festival is not fixed and vary every year.

  • Literature Festival (January-February)

  • Teej Festival

    You will be spellbound by the sheer grandeur and enthusiasm with which the locals celebrate this colorful festival.  Held every year during the months of July-August, it is dedicated to the divine couple- Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. On this day, day-long celebrations and processions are held in Jaipur. It also marks the arrival of monsoon.

  • Chaksu fair (Sheetla Mata Fair)

    You may think that this festival has only spiritual connection to it which is not true. It is more than that. Held every year for celebrating
    Shitla Asthami. As per mythology, Sheetla Mata is a the Goddess of Small pox. Prayers and offerings are offered by the devotees for averting any epidemic. It is held in Seel-ki-Doongri village, located near Jaipur.
