Rishikesh is laden with numerous beautiful places that you can visit. An abode for pilgrims, this spiritual place has many sacred places that one can go to. Following are some of the places that you must visit in Rishikesh:

  • Triveni Ghat

    A holy confluence of the three most pious rivers in the country, the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati is a sacred bathing spot for the pilgrims who visit Rishikesh. After sundown, the famous Ganga Maha Aarti takes place at around 6pm when little ‘dias’ are floated on the water, offering a spectacular sight to catch. Buy these dias from the nearby stalls and be a part of the beautiful custom. It is believed that a dip in this holy confluence can relieve one from the sins and salvage their soul. You can find them in the little stalls nearby that sells the puja samagri. Many devotees come here to make offerings into the river as a part of the worships. A gigantic idol of Lord Shiva is also located here and during monsoons it offers a spellbinding view, when it is halfway submerged in the water.   


  • Lakshman Jhula

    The famous hanging bridge suspended across the Ganges about 450 ft long, Lakshman Jhula, re-built in the year 1939, is now a famous tourist spot. Legend has it that the brother of Lord Rama, audacious Lakshmana crossed the Ganges on jute ropes. It is said that the bridge was built at the same spot where Lakshman performed this brave deed.

    Also, there is a temple situated on the west bank of the Ganges paying homage to
    Lakshman. There are many temples and ashrams located near to this bridge and is thronged with tourists throughout the year. Here the locales buy food for fishes and even though the jhula is closed due to the huge traffic, the local people use it for travelling through smaller vehicles like bikes and cycles. Due to the popularity of the place, another hanging bridge is built near it naming Ram Jhula.


  • Kaudiyala

    Settled on an altitude of 380 m above sea level, this place is perfect for the rock climbing, white water rafting and camping. This picturesque location is a popular tourist spot where you can enjoy many adventure sports and soak into the verdant surroundings.


  • Shivpuri

    It is a charming little town located on the way from Rishikesh to Patisira. This picturesque place shelters many ancient temples mostly dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shivpuri, which means abode of Shiva, is a very sacred and revered place for Hindus. The place also offers ample opportunity for adventure sports and camping. Shivpuri is famous for being the starting point for white water rafting and the river side are great place to camp.

  • Gita Bhawan

    Situated on the bank of river Ganga, Gita Bhawan is an institution that preserves the roots of puranic and vedic literature. The place is the ashram of Guru Shri Ram Sukh Daas Ji. Twice a year in this ashram, people gather to read the Ramayana together, the epic of Lord Rama.

  • Parmarth Niketan

    The largest ashram in Rishikesh, Parmarth Niketan welcomes thousands of pilgrims every year into the world of serenity and peace. The ashrams has over 1000 rooms, all well equipped with an air of spirituality. The activities in the ashram include morning universal prayers, daily yoga and meditation classes, daily satsang and lecture programs, kirtan, world renowned Ganga aarti at sunset, as well as Nature Cure and Ayurvedic treatment and training.
