Chamba is also popularly known as the valley of milk and honey and famous for its streams and meadows, paintings and lakes. Chamba is so fiercely protected by the snow covered mountains that it has escaped the hands of the invaders and still remains the best preserved heartland of the Himalayan art. Chamba also has many nearby places where you can make a short trip to enhance the joy of your vacation.

  • Kailash Manimahesh

    This breathtaking lake is at a distance of 28 kms from Chamba in district Bharmour. It is believed that this lake is blessed by Goddess Kali and protected by Lord Shiva. Thousands of devotees make a journey to bathe in the lake on the fifteenth day after Janmashtami. Every year the Manimahesh fest is organized in the month of August or September.

  • Chaugan

    Chaugan is a grassy meadow which is an ideal place for picnics and a long leisurely stroll. This is also the venue for yearly Minjar Mela. Since it is a sought- after spot, a lot of eating joints have opened up nearby where you can pamper your tummy.

  • Dalhousie

    Dalhousie is located at a distance of 50 kms from Chamba. This hill station was developed as a summer retreat by the Britishers for their troops and bureaucrats. The town was named after Lord Dalhousie who was the British Viceroy of India at that time. Dalhousie is a gateway to the Chamba hills and is a great place to visit ancient Hindu temples, culture and arts. The beautiful landscape will surely take your breath away!
