Kanyakumari is in itself a fulfilling destination, nothing can match its temples, beaches and waterfall but the compromise you have made with time may result in making the time of your next visit uncertain. Make the best use of your vacation and put an effort to visit other nearby places, if you get, again, time. Don’t you just wish there was no watch and no clock!

  • Thiruvananthapuram
In Kerala and 3 hours ride by a Kanyakumari to Thiruvananthapuram taxi, the capital city is one destination that should not be missed out on if time permits. INR 150 to INR 300 by train or INR 3500, at the maximum, by cab for a round trip. The 100 feet tall Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple with its Pandya style gopurams is a sight that will add to the holy experience you had been gathering in Kanyakumari. If you are already missing sand and water, the famous Kovalam Beach will help you overcome it. These are only a few of the many things that adorns the city. Visit it yourself to decipher why it is called God’s Own Capital.

  • Tuticorin
At a distance of around 100 km from Kanyakumari, this port city, which will take you 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach, is not your conventional tourist destination. But the rows of boats and ships, as they line up to go for fishing or pearl diving is a scene to watch, especially if you are from somewhere very different to this city. And, of course, places of worship, which seem to spread divinity in every part of the state, is no stranger to Tuticorin also. From Panimaya Matha Church to Sri Vaikundapathy Temple, be ready to be blessed.

  • Kollam
Travel 150 km approximately from the town, and after travelling about 3 hours by a Kanyakumari to Kollam taxi, you will be suddenly greeted by the aromas of cashew nuts. You can step down from your vehicle now for you have reach Kollam. Here, you will get a chance to witness the famous backwaters of Kerala in the form of Astamudi Lake, which is also the second largest lake in the state. The scenic beauty of the water is enhanced by the fresh green palms and coconut trees that surround the water. Apart from this, there are beaches, quite obviously, and an elephant village also. Now, that is a complete package in itself. Are you ready to unwrap the package? Oh, gift. It sounds more interesting!

Start planning, think of it your board paper. Make sure you calculate the time properly, chart out the map and include every interesting spot and see if you can squeeze in the nearby destinations also. If it is not possible, then just think of it as a note on your personal diary and have fun with what is available.
