With so many places to see in Lonavala, you are definitely in for a busy holiday. If scenic beauty, historic forts and ancient caves have you hooked, you are in for a splendid surprise. With a few more days in hand, go ahead and explore the lovely places around the city.

  • Matheran
    Untouched, unspoiled and unbelievably tranquil, this popular tourist hill-station in Maharashtra is a great getaway destination. Just 65 km and an hour and a half away by a Lonavala to Matheran taxi, it is one of the most un-polluted cities in the region, especially since no vehicles are allowed inside its limits. Unique look-out points provide some breathtaking views of the hills and valleys of the surrounding Sahyadri Range. The quiet, serene hill-station, which has managed to maintain its tranquility despite being thronged by a large number of tourists every year. The town administration charges a small fee for the up-keep and cleanliness of the area, because of which they have been successful in retaining its pristine, natural ambiance. Several spots offer panoramic and splendid views of the local surroundings, including the picturesque Charlotte Lake, which is a major draw for tourists. For those who want to carry souvenirs back home, the Matheran Bazaar is a fun-filled, exciting choice.

  • Pune
    Celebrated as Maharashtra's cultural capital, Pune bursts with educational institutes, museums and hill forts. The city is about 65 km away from Lonavala.
