If you thought Haridwar was only about pilgrims and their religious inclinations, then it's going to come as a shock to you that it is also a foodie's paradise. There is a plethora of options that one can explore when there is rumbling in your belly. Being a religious destination, non-veg food is scarcely available which might come as a bumper to the carnivores out there but trust me the food here makes up for it in every way possible. Don't believe me, read on then.

  • Chotiwala

Two restaurants, one at Subhash Ghat and the other at Upper Road, with the same name and stuck in a neck to neck competition, serve you with the best vegetarian food and thalis in town. They are easily recognisable because of the round and jolly
chotiwala (a fat mascot with a pointed hairdo) sitting right outside the restaurant with the thali having all the dishes that are served during that day. Though initially the restaurants had an all-you-can-eat policy but due to practical issues, that practice has been done away with and now extra servings are charged. Do not miss the delicious Kulfi when you come here. Chinese here is also as relishing as any other cuisine.
Spend some INR 40 to INR 70 per person for a delicious north Indian meal and INR 70 to INR 120 for a thali and relish the experience with a glass of cold lassi.

Not only the food, the place treats you with a nicely equipped spa and entertainment programs which again adds a unique charm to the place. Veg Thali is something which you shouldn't miss here. The dinner here is served in a buffet setting which seems too modern for an old city such as Haridwar but the view from the terrace of the building is to die for. There are also rooms available at this place which you can stay in.

Enjoy the buffet here at around INR 500 per head and thali at around INR 100. Do not miss the Aam Panna and Lassi at INR 30 for a glass.
