Lakes are fun, aren’t they? They are cute little water bodies seeking attention of all the Nature lovers. Now if you are one of them, then Kodaikanal will treat you with two amazing lakes. Don’t believe that? Read on:

  • Kodai Lake: One of the must visits for anyone visiting Kodaikanal, this lake forms the nerve center of the town. Well connected through taxis, this man made lake resembles a roughly drawn star. One must try fishing in the lake for an ultimate experience. The best time to visit the lake is during the sunrise and the sunset during which the lake forms a shimmering image of the pristine beauty of the surrounding green hills. Boating in the lake is one of the highlights of the attraction.
Stay away from the hagglers wanting to read your palm and reading into your future. Sit around the lake to soak in whatever Mother Nature has to offer to its children.

  • Berijam lake: Located 20 km away from the town’s center, this beautiful lake is not only a conservatory that acts as a source of water to the town but also a hotspot to many species of animals stopping by to have a sip or two of the clear and pristine water of the lake. Entry to this lake is not open to general public and you will have to take special permission from the District Forest Officer to visit and especially if you want to boat in the lake.

District Forest Officer can be contacted at +91-4542-240287 near Hotel Tamil Nadu, for all the trek details and necessary permissions.

While enjoying animal and bird sightings, you can expect a great weekend picnic at this spot. The man made lake is also an interesting option for overnight camping and adventurous treks into the
    Palani Hills.

The entry to the lake closes at 4:00 p.m. It is a lot crowded during the afternoon so you should try and visit the place in the morning to enjoy a more secluded quality time with nature.

The pristine waters of the lakes welcome you with all their heart, what are you waiting for? Go take a dip!!
