Being more of a ski resort town, you will find that when it comes to museums there aren't many places to visit. Yet, what it loses out in quantity, it more than makes up in quality. The collection at Kanchejunga Museum seems right out of a James Bond movie and for a moment it may seem you have entered his own private stash of cool, spy gear.

Ever wondered how the Indian Army manages to make their way through the Himalayan ranges, glaciers and ridges? How they fight wars day in and out at this altitude, where you can see your breath turning to mist right before your eyes? If you head over to the Kanchenjunga Museum, you will find the answer to these questions. On display here are all the old and modern warfare mountaineering equipment and gears used by the Indian Army since 1947. Developed initially as a High-Altitude Warfare School, the museum was set up to commemorate 1997's first summit of Indian Army to Kanchenjunga. Since then, other expeditions like first successful Everest expedition of 2001 have been given a due place here.

Timings: 9am to 5pm in Summers and 10am to 4pm in Winters.

Now you will finally get to know how the Indian Army fought wars at the highest battlefield of the world, the Siachen Glacier.
