You never know a place fully if you have no knowledge of its past and its history and the more you explore a destination the more you will be tempted to dig up its heritage. In Kanyakumari which is more of a religious and beach place than a heritage one, this role is fulfilled by its museum.

  • Government Museum Kanyakumari

    Built as a multi-purpose museum, it houses various stone sculptures and statues of the 15th century, including that of Macikavasakar and Alwar as well as a 7th century bronze sculpture of Nataraja. Besides these, you will find artifacts of natural history and a huge collection of old coins. Apart from this paintings are also given a place of respect in this museum and it has been increased Travancore gallery was open recently. All aspects of history is carefully kept in this museum for you take home some lessons on Kanyakumari’s history. Don’t miss the class!

    Entry Fee: INR 5 for Indians, INR 500 for foreign nationals
    Timing: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday to Thursday

  • Wax Museum

    This one is for those like a little bit of fun in everything. The first of its kind in the country, it was started in 2005 in Baywatch Amusement Park. A kind of Madame Tussaud’s, the wax figures in this museum include famous personalities like Dr. Manmohan Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Michael Jackson and  Jackie Chan among others. If you have a dream of meeting the famous star Rajnikanth, you dream will be half fulfilled as the wax statue of him in this museum  is very much alike the real actor himself. Live your fantasy in Wax museum.

    Entry Fee: INR 50 for adults and INR 40 for children
    Timing: 8:00 am to 6:30 pm
