0 people found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

Visit to any place is incomplete without shopping, don't you think? In fact, you can hardly imagine going back from a vacationing trip, without taking back some souvenirs with you, be it for yourself or your friends and family members.Although Palampur is not a famous shopping destination like other parts of Himachal Pradesh, but it does have a few local markets and factory outlets from where you can shop.

  • Factory Outlets

Tea lovers will be delighted since Palampur is the
tea capital of north India, so it is doubtless fact that the most important buy here will be the tea leaves. You can buy some in the markets or at Tea Co-operatives Society's gigantic processing plants that you will come across while driving into the town. The world famous Kangra Tea can be bought at Bharmour or the many factory outlets just outside Palampur.

  • Andretta and Tashi Jong Monastery

Pottery lovers should definitely go to Andretta, an Artist's village, from where you should buy recherches pottery. There is
Andretta Pottery and Crafts Society from where you should buy intricately worked items. Another wonderful halt for shopping will be the Tashi Jong Monastery which is known for carpets with delicate weaves, Buddhist Thangka paintings and Tibetan artifacts. These make for a great souvenirs and gifts.

For local market experience, try the Tibetan bazaars which are also nice shopping destination. Stalls found near street corners of woolen items offer a good variety. However, do not forget to bargain while shopping in these areas and remember to buy the locally made items rather than branded ones as the former are unique to this place.
