With a place with a vast and turbulent history, its beaches comes as a respite. Right from amazing sparkling blue beaches to ancient forts and groves of exotic and indigenous trees, Diu offers a wide variety of places of interest to suit your moods and desires. Some of the most frequently visited places in Diu are:

  • Ghoghla Beach Diu

    As far as your eyes can see, the golden hued beaches contrasting the sparkling blue of Arabian oces is a sheer delight to the visual senses. The vast open clear blue sea is therapeutic to the nerves and your senses. Lay on the beach reading your favourite book, sip on fresh coconut water and let the warm sun caress your body gently. However if you want the adrenaline pumping then there are many options for watersport on the beach like swimming, parasailing and surfing.

    Do not forget to take sunscreen..unless you want an exotic shade of tan!

  • Panikotha-Fortim Do Mar

    The Panikotha Fort is a gigantic structure built in the shape of a ship on 56,736 square meter area, offshore on the Arabian sea. The rulers of Gujarat and Portuguese jointly made this structure to defend Diu against any possible Mughal invasion.

    Located one nautical mile from Diu, it has a small lighthouse and a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Sea. The fortress has ancient cells and cellars where the prisoners were locked. This ancient stone fort is now a major tourist destination as it provides an absolute stunning view of the Arabian Sea. The fort was once connected to the land by an underground tunnel which is however in ruins now. You can take ferries from the Diu beach to take you there.

    You can see this monument in the bollywood movie ‘Qayamat' starring Ajay Devgan and Sunil Shetty.

  • INS Khukhri Diu

    This war memorial was built in the memory of the army officers and sailors who chose to go down with the warship INS Khukri when it was hit by three torpedoes fired by PNS Hangor, a Pakistani Submarine on 9/12/1971 during the Indo-Pak war. It was inaugurated on 15th december 1999.

    You can pay your tributes to the legendary Indian army and the brave souls who have kept the fire of our democracy burning.

There are many other tourist attractions which includes scenic beaches like
Nagoa beach, Jalandhar shrine, Hoka tree groves and Diu fort. These beautiful scenic places will leave an everlasting impression on your heart and mind and you will want to return back to them again and again.
