After spending a serene and relaxing holiday in Chikmagalur, you don't really feel like getting back to a boring monotonous life, do you? Well, if you want to extend your holiday trip here, there are some fabulous options around the ‘coffee land’ that you can visit:


  • Mangalore

    Located 146 km from Chikmagalur, Mangalore is a major metro city near the place. It also has the nearest railhead and the airport to the city. Mangalore is the port city in Karnataka, known for its pristine beaches, diverse cultural heritage and some brilliant Udupi-style cuisine. Tall, swaying palm and coconut trees and lush green surroundings offer a soothing holiday experience, despite the growing commercial character of the city.

    On the Western coastline of India, the "gateway to Karnataka" is replete with a history of shipbuilding, trading port and a variety of dynasties and rulers presiding over the region. Several ancient temples and churches stand witness to this history, including the

  • Coorg

    Coorg is located 179 km from Chikmagalur and is one of the best hill stations in the state of Karnataka.   • Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary

    Muthodi wildlife sanctuary is about 38 km from Chikmagalur. It was declared by the
    Government of Mysore as the Jagara Valley Game Reserve in 1951. After the census of the animal species in the adjoining areas in the year 1974, the sanctuary was reconstituted as the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary however, it was later changed to Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Settled in the Western Ghats the sanctuary spreads over a sprawling area of 492 sq. kilometres of dense verdant forest. The sanctuary also fall under the
    Project Tiger due to the presence of the majestic creatures found in here. Overlooking the hills of Kemmanagundi and Baba Budan on the east, the forest here offers glorious views of the surroundings. With more than 120 species of trees, diverse and abundant flora, fauna and wildlife of this place is perfect for an adventurous safari.
    The best time to visit the wilderness of Muthodi Sanctuary is between
    October and March. The sanctuary is closed to the public from April to June.
