Khajjiar is a heaven in itself. Yet, if you have come from far, you’d certainly have the desire to explore all that which surrounds this wonderful place and add to the magic of your explorations, isn’t it? Well, here are some not-to-be-missed sites you should check out.

  • Dalhousie

Dalhousie is only 7 km away, and there is no excusing you if you miss this resplendent beauty on your trip to Khajjiar. This serene and beautiful tourist hub is full of Victorian-style mansions and other architectural forms such as churches and temples. The famous golf-course, The Dalhousie Club incorporates the architectural style of the famous Scotland Castle.
Do not forget to visit popular places like Satdhara Falls, Panchpulla and Dainkund Peak. In short, Dalhousie offers a pleasant experience to trekkers as well as nature lovers.
Dalhousie can be reached in an hour by bus or by private means of transport. If you are especially fond of trekking, you can instead trek (and not take a vehicle) through places like
Dainkund Peak and have a closer experience of the majestic and overwhelming Dhauladhar mountain ranges.
  • Chamba

Located about 30 km away from Khajjiar, Chamba’s adventure sports are sure to set your adrenaline rushing. Indulge in snow skiing, river rafting, river crossing, trekking and much more.
Also, be it the prominent temples like

A bus or a taxi are the most suitable means to take in order to reach Chamba from Khajjiar.
  • Bharmour

Though this village is about 50 km from Khajjiar
, the travelling you do will be worth it. Some of the archaeological temples here are said to date back to the 10th century.
A trek through the hill  to the
Chaurasi Temple is really advisable. Another advisable trek(about 35 km) is to the holy Manimahesh Lake, whose purifying waters are seen as invincible by pilgrims, especially during the Manimahesh Yatra during the months of August and September.
The Mountaineering Institute of Manali situated nearby is available to help people really intent on trekking adventures. If you are a history-enthusiast or an art lover, you must visit Bhuri Singh Museum and Akhand Chandi Palace.

  • Bakrota Hills

These hills provide an exhilarating view of the snow-capped, towering mountains during the peak season (summers-March to June). The brisk walk around the hills on the Bakrota Mall, with the lush deodars greeting you at every step, is going to be an indescribably refreshing experience.
The hills can be visited after paying a visit to the famous
