The outskirts of Guwahati city features some serene and beautiful places. A quaint village called Sonapur, about half an hour drive from the main city, has few the nice resorts that are built in traditional style. Following are a few of fine resorts in Guwahati where you can have a memorable stay:

  • Spring Valley Resort
A splendorous resort nestled in nature's lap with gorgeous views of the surrounding, Spring Valley Resort is a great place to spend your holidays in Guwahati. The place offers many recreational activities like horse rides, elephant rides, boating etc. Also, almost every weekend it features live performances by local bands. The restaurant in the resort namely ‘In Taste Dine’ features a multi-cuisine menu and you can also have authentic Assamese cuisine here.
However, since the resort is located at the outskirts of the city the feasibility of communication is slightly lacking. The staff of the resort do provide you with pick and drop facilities but if you go for a random visit it is best to arrange your ride back to the city by yourself.

Room rates in the resort start from a minimum of INR 3000, however, depending on the type of your room you choose the prices may go up.

The resort is perched on a hillock with a waterfall and a small lake in the amplitude. The Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary is located behind the resort offering a typical jungle ambiance, hence named jungle resort.
In the resort you have the option of living in lovely bamboo huts, which they have named as ‘Ethnic Cottages’. You can also choose to stay in the nice and cozy deluxe cottages. They serve both traditional Assamese food as well as other various delicacies of multi cuisine.

To stay in the cottages of the resort, you have to shell out a minimum of INR 1600 which depends on the type of cottage you choose to stay and the time of the year.
