Preparing a comprehensive list of popular restaurants in a city that loves to eat is surely a mighty task! But then again, there are a handful of places you don't want to miss eating at, when in the cultural capital of India.   • 6 Ballygunge Place

    Owing to its popularity, this mother restaurant now has a chain all over India to boast of.  Housed in a bungalow that is replete with an old world charm, this restaurant scores equally well for its food and its ambience. Try the Gondhoraj Chicken to build up to a spectacular meal and follow the same up with some Pabda Macher Jhal (spicy fish in a mustard flavoured curry). Close the meal with Aam Pora Sorbot and Noren Gur Er Ice cream, and trust me, you have had the bengali equivalent of a gastronomic adventure of a lifetime.
