Now, that you know the list of things that you can buy from Darjeeling, you must be wondering where to go to buy these things. Don't you worry about that, the following list will help you figure out where you can go shopping in Darjeeling:

  • Nathmulls

is perhaps the oldest tea shop in Darjeeling. There are only two outlets of Nathmulls, one at the old store at Laden La road and the other a newer one in Chowrasta. The one at Chowrasta is also a tea lounge, with a lovely sitting area where you can enjoy refreshing tea. If you want to buy authentic Darjeeling flavoured tea this is the right place to be.

  • The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre

The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre is a self-supporting/help centre for Tibetan refugees which manufactures some
Tibetan handicrafts. It was established for the rehabilitation of Tibetan refugees who followed the Dalai Lama to India in early 1959. You will find a wide choice of Tibetan handicrafts here. Tibetan woollencarpet is very popular and worth buying.

  • Hayden Hall

Hayden Hall, (opposite the State Bank of India on Laden La Road) a Roman Catholic social service centre also has a brilliant handicraft section with the purpose of helping the local poor people. You must check out the variety of
woollens and other warm clothing here.

  • Chowrasta and Nehru Road

Chowrasta and Nehru Road are places where you can check out for
    curios and lovely trinkets.

  • West Bengal's Manusha Emporium

Handloom can also be bought at West Bengal's Manusha Emporium (Nehru Road). Here you will find
Himalayan handicrafts, silk and hand loomed products. Haggling for prices is little difficult here, because they tag them as fixed prices.

  • Hill Cart Road

In the market of Hill Cart Road next to the bus and taxi stands you can find relatively cheap woollen garments of high quality. You can also carry home a
bamboo umbrella as a souvenir for quite a bargain from here.

The main shopping centres in Darjeeling are Chowk Bazaar, Chowrasta, Ladenla Road, Nehru Road, Supermarket, Motor Stand and Mahakal Market. Darjeeling offers a delightful shopping experience, so, make sure pick up some famous things from the markets here before heading home.
