Do islands amaze you? Do they surprise you with the beauty that they have to offer? If yes, then you have to consider Lakshadweep for your next trip. Its coral beauty is definitely going to charm you like anything. It's laden with beaches, islands (that was obvious, right?) and few of the most spellbinding views that Mother Nature has to offer. Don't believe me, read on.

  • Minicoy Island

The southernmost island of all the islands of Lakshadweep, this is one of the most visited area of this Union Territory. This crescent shaped island has the biggest lagoon in Lakshadweep. The island is famous for a 300 feet tall lighthouse and a very old mosque,
Juma Mosque. The island is an ideal spot for tuna fishing and attracts many visitors because of the factories for tuna canning with ice plants and cold storages. The island is richly endowed with culture and tradition, many traditional dance forms such as Dandi and Lava Dance are performed here during the festivals. The island is also famous for the availability of boats with a transparent fibre bottom which take you right to the centre of the ocean and let you view all the marine activity which makes the island a hit among the tourists.

  • Kavaratti Island

If you just can't get enough of the coral beauty that Lakshadweep has to offer, then Kavaratti Island is the answer for you. The headquarters of this Union Territory, the island is laden with pristine white beaches, swinging coconut and palm trees and superbly beautiful and calm lagoons. If you think that's it, then you would like to know that there are also other attractions such as the
Urja Mosque which is considered to be one of the best and the very few shrines in this group of islands. The island also features the Marine Museum where you can imbibe the beauty of the exquisite species of the marine life. The island is also a very ideal spot for water sports and is considered to be the best for scuba diving.

  • Kalpeni Island

The island is considered to be the most impressing island among all in Lakshadweep. Intricately formed out of three satellite islands,
Cheriyam, Pitti and Tilakkam this island is not only largely inhabited but is also a major attraction for tourists for their memorable holidays. Undoubtedly, the most unique feature of the island is the coral debris which can be found along the southeastern and eastern banks of the island. It also features an amazing lagoon that is rich in coral life. The island is also famous for a wide variety of watersport activities that include snorkeling, kayaking, reef walking, canoeing and sailing yachts. And if you are still trying to figure out which is the best one out of the lot, then snorkelling is the answer for you.

  • Lighthouse

This amazing lighthouse is one of the oldest structures on the islands of Lakshadweep. Established by the
British, this lighthouse attracts a lot of visitors everyday just because of the superb view that it offers from the top of the structure. The bird eye view of the islands is not only a sight that you will remember all your life but is also an adventure in itself. Built in 1885, this 300 feet tall lighthouse has been a famous landmark on the Minicoy Island and hence acts as a major factor in defining the tourist extravaganza of the place.

  • Marine Museum

Here is one attraction which is not only interesting to explore but is also informative in its own peculiar way. Located on the
Kavaratti Island, the Marine Aquarium and Museum was established in 1983 to bring awareness about marine products and their preservation. The museum has few of the most intriguing species of fish and other members of the marine life. The museum is not only visited by regular tourists but also marine enthusiasts for exploring some rare species of invertebrates and how well they are and can be preserved. The museum is keeping up with its goal, isn't it? Cool!

  • Agatti Island

Agatti Island is considered to be one of the best islands of Lakshadweep. The pristine beauty of the place is laden with a very pleasant weather, cool sea breeze, clear waters, a finely balanced mix of sunlight and sandy shores. So much at one place? Phew! Also, the island is the only one which has an airport in Lakshadweep which makes it the most accessible one in any sense. The island is also a hit among water sports lovers as there are a lot of options for them including
kayaking, snorkelling and scuba diving. Featured with clear water, the island has an attractive lagoon which has a wide variety of intriguing marine life. For the foodies out there, there are a lot of grill joints which offer a variety of seafood including the hard-to-crack crabs.

  • Amindivi Island

    Also known as the
Amini Island, this one is the most ancient of all the islands in Lakshadweep. It was the first island to be inhabited by humans and has a long history of invasion by the Portuguese and the British. The island is most famous for the huge variety of coir work which is indeed a major earning source for the tourism industry of the Union Territory. Also, not to miss are the walking sticks and craftswork which are made of turtle coconut shells bedazzled with coral stones and decorated with traditional flower motifs. Featured with tropical climate, the island is one of the most densely populated islands of the lot.

  • Andretti Island

Closest to its mother country, this island is the largest among the group of islands in Lakshadweep. Through
Cochin, this island is the most accessible from the mainland of the country. Unlike all the other islands which lie in the north-south direction, this one lies in the east-west direction. Along with the most pristine views of nature, the island also has attractions such as Buddhist archeological remains and the tomb of Saint Hazrat Ubaidullah. Coconut palms and coir industry are the two things which can be seen flourishing the most in this tropical land that is uniquely oriented. The island enjoys dense population of the inhabitants as well as tourists from different parts of the world.

While you are on a spree of exploring the islands of the place, because there is nothing else, remember? You can also explore islands such as Bangaram Island and Kadmat Island which are as interesting as any other island in the beautiful Union Territory.
