If you belong to the PETA camp and hunger pangs are getting stronger with all the sightseeing at Ajmer, there’s plenty for you to choose from. Vegetarian food is a big rage in the city, for it’s a holy city for most of the people. Walk in to any of these to treat yourself to some scrumptious vegetarian fare:

  • Silver Leaf Restaurant

Even with an ambience that may not be alluring at the first sight, Silver Leaf is a big hit with the vegetarians. Located inside Hotel Embassy, it’s hailed for the vegetarian delights it offers other than some real good Chinese, Italian and Continental. Service is kind of slow so you should place the order fast.

A meal at Silver Leaf costs upwards of INR 200.

Timings: 10 am to 11 pm

Address: Opposite City Powerhouse

Jaipur Road

Telephone: +91-145-2425519/2623859

  • Mango Masala

If a group of pals is accompanying you, Mango Masala is just the place for you. With a cafe like ambience and a menu that has pizzas, sundaes, cakes, Chinese, North Indian and South Indian cuisine, it also doubles up as a great hangout zone. It serves essentially vegetarian food and no alcohol.

A meal costs somewhere between INR 50 and INR 150.

Timings: 11 am to 11 pm

Address: Sardar Patel Marg

Telephone: +91-145-2422100

It’s the most famous of all the restaurants at Ajmer, a great hit with Mayo College students as well. A grass courtyard inside the restaurant is a welcome change from the relatively closed spaces. Thinking of the food here, it’s a great mix of vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food. There’s Chinese and Continental on offer too. At just 2 minutes away from the railway station, tourists make it a point not to miss it.

A meal costs between INR 50 and INR 200.

Timings: 9 am to 11 pm

Address: Opposite Railway station

Station Road

Telephone: +91-145-2622498

You can also have some really authentic vegetarian food at the cosy food joints that are all around the Station Road and near the dargah. Hotel Bhola and Pandit Bhojanalaya are two places that will have you date the most aromatic and delicious vegetarian culinary delights. Go, gorge!
