As the gateway to Jim Corbett National Park, Ramnagar sees crowds descending its lands all around the year. It’s almost an essential stopover for the ones looking for some really wild time at Corbett. Hospitable to the core, just pay some heed to these easy tips and guidelines:

  • Travel

It’s always good to go prepared with an itinerary. Ramnagar and its surroundings have so much on offer that you just can’t do without it. Travel smart, travel planned. Ramnagar is a fairly bustling town, with ATMs and all the facilities in plenty. Thus, it’s not advisable to carry too much cash. Though driving at night is considered easier in hills, leave the task to the experts, for driving on meandering roads isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. Don’t forget to carry an umbrella for rains come as a surprise in Ramnagar, it’s usually a downpour. And though it hardly sees snowfall, you never know when the white curls descend on you.

  • Clothing

Make sure that you are carrying some light woollens, maybe a shawl or two, even if you visit Ramnagar in summers. The weather has a slight chill to it throughout the year and there’s nothing like a snug shawl at hand.

  • Stay

As the entry point to Corbett, Ramnagar is usually teeming with crowds. So, it’s better to get hotel booking done well in advance. Avoid venturing out at night, for the place is quite close to the National Park and has wildlife that might not be too pleasant a sight at night!

It’s a charming place with easygoing people who are in the habit of welcoming tourists with friendly grins and warmth. All that you need to keep in mind is to follow the ‘touring ethics’ like not to litter!
