My all time favorite "MAHAPRASAD" since I was 4 years. Mahaprasad is the food of Lord Jagannath temple in Orissa. It's a massive cooking which is cooked inside the temple kitchen, which is the biggest kitchen in the world. The food is simple, economical yet temptingly delicious..
Chaamp Tajdaar at Punjab Grill is my all time favourite. It's the most succulent lamb kebab ever, flavoured to perfection and cooked slowly over crimson coals. Slurp!
Another great food experience has been eating at Natraj Restaurant in Udaipur. The place serves all-you-can-eat Rajasthani and Gujarati Thalis, and believe me, each morsel on your plate is worth dying for. Take a look:
If you want to try a proper Maharashtrian thali at reasonable rate then there is no better place than Hotel Durwankur in Pune (Tilak Road). The thali consist of 10 to 12 Dishes which include sweets as well. You will get Rice and Dal, Sitaphal Rabadi (sweet dish made of custard apple) & different Bhakaris as well. I have tried a couple of times but the best ones was during summer where they served me Aamras made of Alphonso mangoes.
Rajasthani thali with daal baati churma at Chokhi Dhani !
Recently I tried Dak Bulgogi in Gung The Palace (Green Park-Delhi).
It is marinated chicken with glass noodles and vegetables. Sounds like any other usual Korean dish but this one was indeed the most lip smacking one I ever had.
Rogan Josh in Gulati restaurant, Delhi
Hmm....this question really made me think! ;-)
Well, to be honest, there are plenty of items I could think of but this one really stands out clearly: Veg Thali at Dakshin, Shereton, Saket (our all time favorite!)
If you love experimenting with South Indian food, I can't think of a better place then Dakshin. A must visit place for all food lovers!
I especially love the Appam with Yello Dal! Its simply Wow!
Barbequed vegetables and kababs with their sauces and accompaniments in barbeque nation, bangalore.
Punjabi Dum aloo in powai plaza, mumbai.
Maharashtrian meal at JM road in ''Mathura""
Pitla Bhakri in Pune.
The best thing I had was masala dosa in Chennai. Loved it. finger licking.
Butter Garlic Crab with malabar parathas.
Can be had at:
Nihari in Hyderabad. It's a stew made by slow cooking (usually overnight) beef or lamb. This is especially devoured during Ramzan right after morning prayers.
Roasted duck at departure lounge of Hong Kong International airport with simple soya dip & boiled rice is really a dish to die for !
When you get down at the Allepey station in Kerala, there is one small eatery at the side. Try the fish fry there, it is the most delicious I have ever eaten.
I simply love the 'Paneer Dhaniya Adraki' at Spice Market (behind Select CityWalk), New Delhi.
Also, my girlfriend loves the Chila at Narayan Chat, Jhansi.
