Navratri is a 9-day long Hindu festival observed all across the country. The festival is dedicated to Maa Shakti, believed to be the creator of the universe. Navratri is actually celebrated four times a year, namely Vasant Navratri, Asadha Navratri, Sharad Navratri and Paush Navratri. Out of these, Vasant and Sharad Navratris are celebrated with a lot of fanfare.

Vasant Navratri occurs during the months of March and April, and is celebrated to mark the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Sharad Navratri is celebrated in September-October over a span of 9 days filled with devotion and cultural celebrations. Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra and Kolkata are the places to be if you want to witness the Navratri festivities in their true colours! At the end of these 9 days, i.e. on Dashmi, we celebrate Dussehra.
