Macondo is a friendly, Australian run backpacker favourite, right in the heart of San Gil - Colombia's up and coming Adventure Tourism capital. There are three private double rooms available for 24,000 Pesos and dorm beds come in at 12,000 Pesos. All rooms are clean, comfy and simple with shared bathrooms. There are also all the facilities the independent traveller could hope for - self-catering kitchen, laundry, book exchange and plenty of information to hand about how to see the nearby sights independently and on a budget. There's a speedy internet connection and fast computer including Skype and Messenger facilities available for guest use at 2,000 Pesos an hour. Hot water facilities are also available - allowing backpackers the rare luxury of having a hot shower in the morning.
