Expert Tip. Locals call this historic hotel "The Pink Palace," ever since Princess Louise, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria visited the island in 1883. The hotel was named The Fairmont Hamilton Princess in honor of her royal visit. In 1939, the resort served as a base to Allied servicemen during World War II, with the basement transformed into an intelligence center and weigh station for all mail, radio and telegraphic traffic headed for Europe, the United States and the Far East.
