Bengaluru-Mumbai Journey Expected to Take Around 16 Hours

The Bengaluru-Mumbai corridor is an important route connecting two of India’s major economic centres. Existing train journeys can take approximately 22 to 24 hours, depending on the service and schedule.

The proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to cover the distance in around 16 hours, potentially reducing travel time by several hours. This could make rail travel a more attractive option for passengers looking to avoid lengthy journeys by road or the additional expense of air travel.

Designed specifically for overnight journeys, the sleeper variant combines the Vande Bharat platform’s modern features with sleeping berths, allowing passengers to rest during the trip and arrive at their destination the following day.

Expected Route and Train Timings

According to recent reports, the train is expected to operate between Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai.

The proposed schedule indicates that the Bengaluru-Mumbai service could depart Bengaluru at around 7:50 PM and reach Mumbai at approximately 11:55 AM the next day. The return journey is expected to take about 15 hours and 45 minutes.

The proposed route includes several important stations, such as Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. These stops could improve connectivity for passengers travelling between cities and towns across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The train is expected to operate six days a week. However, passengers should check the final railway timetable for confirmed departure times, station stops and operating days before planning their journeys.

The new service is expected to feature a 16-coach trainset designed to accommodate passengers on long-distance overnight journeys. The sleeper configuration is intended to offer a more comfortable alternative to conventional overnight trains.

The exact fare structure, reservation opening date and other passenger-related details should be confirmed through official Indian Railways announcements.
