Move to "Downton Abbey" for a night
by Lennart J on 13 Oct 2016 (Couple Traveller)
We were arriving late but that was not a problem for the host. An evening platter was arranged and served in the dining room. We sat very quiet and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We selected the place cause of the close location to airport, only a few kilometers. Once there we felt sorry that we didn't stay longer to just enjoy the wonderful house and garden. The hosts were very welcoming and did their outmost to serve and help us. Fantastic B&B in a "Downtown Abby" style on the countrysid...
Disappointing stay in a rather run-down country house
by keef21 on 26 Sep 2016 (Family Traveller)
This was a huge disappointment - a run-down b&b at hotel prices. For £330 for two nights bed and breakfast (for 3 people in 2 rooms) this represents poor value for money. We were expecting a relaxing stay in a comfortable country house. Perhaps even a bit of luxury for that price? The house is in a time-warp from the 70's or 80's and its facilities need urgent updating. The decor is very tired. Neither room had an ensuite and the bathroom and loo were some way away along the corridor and down so...
Fabulous Guest House with a Homely Feel
by Caz112 on 29 Aug 2016 (Couple Traveller)
We stayed here for two nights whilst up to see the Tattoo in Edinburgh. Just a short drive from the city and ideally located close to the railway (a two minute walk) this is an excellent place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and felt like we were visiting family rather than staying in a hotel. Jill is absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The first evening we got back very late and she had turned on the lamp and closed the curtains, very thoughtful. Breakf...

This was like Downton Abbey, on a smaller and more personable scale. We stayed for only one night, but I would gladly return for a longer stay. The location is great, just a few miles from EDI airport, and also a few minutes walk to a train station with direct access to Waverley in Edinburgh. There are no eateries in Kirknewton, but a short drive will take you to other towns where there are plenty. The house is a gem, a building with a lot of history to it. The bedroom was large and spacious, as...
Lovely B & B within easy reach of Edinburgh.
by sixnationsrugbyfan on 09 Feb 2016 (Couple Traveller)
Lovely secluded B & B. Beautiful old house in it's own grounds. Very welcoming and helpful owners. We had a large double bedroom with its own en suite bathroom. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. TV. Lovely cooked breakfast. B & B is 5 min walk from rail station (20 mins into Edinburgh)
