V nice stay

by Gareth T on 23 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

Arrived and was pleasantly surprised to be given the Queen Victoria room which is the biggest and best bedroom in the hotel and is the Bridal Suite - four poster bed a real fireplace and very large room with double aspect windows. Bar was very relaxing area with a wonderful real fire in a fantastically large fireplace. Went down for a quick drink at 6:30 and stayed for 3 hours having dinner from the bar menu. Ham eggs and chips- very nice. Lovely grounds Friendly staff Nicely tucked away...

Pleasantly surprised

by Alyssa F on 22 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Having read some poor reviews we had fairly low expectations of the bestwood. We stayed for a family party and we were pleasantly surprised. The drive to the hotel is through a fairly grim area however on arrival at the hotel the building and immediate surroundings are beautiful. Best Western Nottingham Bestwood lodge Hotel

by stephen b on 21 Dec 2016 (Business Traveller)

Period style bar with roaring fire - bar staff and restaurant staff friendly and helpful - breakfast very good. My room had an air of genteel decay with one of the oldest (and cheapest) wardrobes I've seen - needs an upgrade

The mattresses used in this hotel are the sort you find abandoned in skips. Grubby, moisture stained (probably urine), clapped out springs, which would be unacceptable in a hostel for the homeless. If you have a back that requires support then avoid this hotel. My room had the decor of a charity shop i.e. a musty smelling colourless carpet, cheap looking furniture and two lifeless pictures on the wall. There was no fridge and no iron. The toilet seat was broken, the cold water tap could onl...

Fading and dingy

by Steve S on 10 Dec 2016 (Friends Traveller)

Visited with a large group for an early Christmas meal and what a let down it was. All meals had been pre-rordered and were very obviously pre-prepared judging by the crispy and half-baked offerings put before us. Doesn't matter what you had ordered it was crispy and half-baked and had clearly spent too much time below the servery hot-lights. Even the coffee was naff.
