Benchmark for the worst hotel we've ever stayed in
by embtravel on 24 Apr 2015 (Family Traveller)
I still shudder at the thought of the crumb-infested baskets used to bring the toast to the table at breakfast. The floor of the room was up and down all over the place. There was no cold water in the bathroom basin. The carpark out the back was almost impossible to get into, due to the angle at which it rises from the roadway. If you persist by reversing in, you may be lucky to get in there.
Don't even try Hillhead Hotel Glasgow

Dinky overpriced room in Hillhead Hotel in Glasgow way on the periphery far from any tourist attraction (except Botanical garden).
Definitely my worst hotel ever

My bad experiences with this hotel began with the rude greeting from the owner / manageress and a demand for cash in advance. Now I understand why. Who would pay afterwards? Room rate is cheap so I did not expect much. My room is at the top floor. I can say it is relatively clean. Bathroom is small. The sink sits next to the bed and it is very tacky to me. Different ladies take care of the breakfast. One lady is very generous and gives enough food: egg, bacon, toast etc. Some are not quite. The smell of the building turns a lot of people away and I aggree with that. The building has a leaking problem during rain. The room under my room has a leakage ...

Faulty Towers indeed! We only stayed at this B&B for one night, but really I would rather have slept in my car, then possibly I would have not received a parking fine either and would have somehow managed a better sleep! After finding the B&B, which was a bit of a nightmare, we arrived and our money was taken right away, we got our key and that was it. Not really a welcoming reception! The bed had been a bit better, we'd have gotten a decent sleep, but hardly slept a wink all night, the pillow...
