Charming building, good location, needs some renovation

by cocostravelsdotcom on 29 Jul 2016 (Couple Traveller)

We stayed here for 1 night in September 2015. We had a little difficulty finding the parking and Montpellier is on a one way system so we unfortunately had to drive round despite directions from the hotel as the garage wasn't clearly sign posted. The location worked very well for us as it was only a few minutes walk to the main square which was full of restaurants and entertainment. The hotel itself had some old charm to it, however, it was very tired and the rooms and bathrooms were somewh...

Ok for price but would stay elsewhere when back

by Walter_NL008 on 02 Nov 2015 (Business Traveller)

Coming in Montpellier for a meeting we were booked by the organizers in the Metropole. I got one of the larger rooms with a good bed! But the place has really had its best days. Bathroom is just fine and again old. Staff was kind and helpful, breakfast ok! Great is the location which is during noisy. I would look for a more convenient place close to the center another time...

Thank Goodness for Staff as Hotel is Very Poor

by Zebedee1966 on 22 Oct 2015 (Couple Traveller)

OK, here's the good bits... the hotel is in a very convenient location to city centre and train station. However, the hotel is very shabby and dirty. Supposedly four star, it most certainly is not. Room Service? Sorry, kitchen closed at weekends !!!! Thank goodness for the staff who genuinely do their very best and try to be as helpful as possible despite the limitations their employer has placed on them. From arrival when the young, friendly, petite female receptionist offered to carry our heav...

Exactly what we needed

by S387GJjuliab on 05 Oct 2015 (Couple Traveller)

We arrived by train, so very handy ; we ate in the main square ,so again great ; we were first-time visitors and wanted to see everything, so a great position for tram ,museums, information access etc. Clean ,friendly, efficient, only limited lift access, but a delightful breakfast. We would stay there again and reccommend it highly.

We got there in the end - and it was well worth it!

If you go no further than this first sentence, be aware that there are roadworks in central Montpellier (September 2015) which will play havoc with your satnav. At least it did with our recently updated TomTom and I doubt if others are any different. At the end of this review, there is a “how to get there without suffering a nervous breakdown” section, but it’s worth the effort! Chosen for its central location and on-site parking, this hotel certainly came up to expectations. We had a large c...
