Nice place

by Howard R on 05 Dec 2016 (Family Traveller)

We were greeted by a well English speaking reception staff member. He had spent time in Australia and was easily understandable. Our Japanese is very basic at present. The rooms were tidy, neat, all needs addressed. Bit expensive for 2 nights however we closeness to the Nijo Palace was great. There were a number of eateries close by and we found the only hiccough was that there epitome was on the first floor so we had stairs to climb with luggage. But hey little sacrifices. We had a bed, clean,...

Japanese room, good space, clean

by MOS33 on 16 Apr 2016

We booked the Japanese room on the 10th floor for space as we have two kids. It was great, the room very spacious and good to have doors between rooms. You have a fridge, table for eating and a decent TV. The bathroom was ok, pretty basic but similar to what you'd get in a Japanese bath house. Overall it really made you feel like you were in Japan. I'd go back!

Average Hotel, OK location

by IrishSunnySweet on 30 Sep 2015 (Couple Traveller)

We only stayed here because we didn't find any other room in Kyoto (silver week - almost no Hotel rooms left) First of all the location is ok-ish. It's close to Nijo castle and a subway line, but far from the lively city center which is usually not what we book. The room was quite expensive due to aforementioned holiday I guess, but what we got for our money did not really correspond with what we expected. The room was VERY small even for Japan standards, and the furniture very basic and old fas...

Don't go to this hotel

by Lior L on 24 Sep 2015 (Couple Traveller)

We arrived this hotel on our honeymoon. The price was very expensive vs other hotels we have visited in Japan. Furthermore the room was VERY small with bad smell, the shower was very outdated and the walls weren't clean. The most problematic issue was the wi-fi that sporadically made it to our upper 9th floor. The water flow wasn't consistent in terms of temperature and the breakfast was terribly small that we asked to just get the money's worth back. I must say that they have agreed to refund u...

Very poor for western standards, pretty bad for even Japan

by SteveDWS on 22 Sep 2015 (Couple Traveller)

Firstly, I would like to say the staff here are great. Good English. Very responsive and go out of their way to help. (Like all Japenese) The hotel is in a good location. Close to the Castle. (10min Walk at the end of the street) 2 km from Nishiki Market and all the shopping you desire. It's a good base and close to transport. The room has tea, a TV, good hot water, good air conditioning and Wifi was fast and reliable. The bed linen was clean, pillow fluffy and comfortable. Mini fridge was good....
