Hotel Sundaram Palace

Nice rooms..my room was good for 1. Near n clean. Bathroom is clean and spacious. They accept Cards which is great. AC and TV functional. Had a mini fridge too. Overall comfortable. Staff checks proactively for lunch or dinner orders. Only issue is with the hand shower which doesn't work. It's situated near the bus stand which is a 2 minutes walk, however it's a little inside the street hence away from the noise of the road. There is a Pizza Hut, market and a theatre nearby and loads of eateries.

I stayed at Hotel Sundaram Palace , and my experience was quite average. The room was compact and did not have a clock or a night lamp. The main issue was that the TV was not working, and even after calling the staff, they couldn’t fix it. The geyser also wasn’t working at first, and after several calls, they finally repaired it, but it took about 30 minutes, which was very inconvenient. The bathroom was okay, but nothing special.Overall, it’s a very decent place but not a good hotel in my opinion. The only good thing is the location ’ it’s near Siliguri Junction, the bus station, and local markets, which makes it convenient for travelers.

What I liked:Location: Perfectly situated just opposite the railway junction and close to the bus stand. Easy access to public transport within a short 100-meter walk, which made commuting very convenient.Facilities & Services: The hotel offers daily room service, complimentary bottled water, and a well-maintained environment.Food: The in-house restaurant was excellent’serving from 8 AM to 10 PM with a good variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The taste was quite satisfying too.Staff: Very polite, cooperative, and understanding. They were helpful and made the stay comfortable.What could be improved:I had booked a double bedroom but was initially allotted Room 304 where the AC was not working. After repeated calls, I was shifted to a twin bedroom due to unavailability of doubles.Although I was assured that a double room would be available after two days, I was never reallocated. This was inconvenient since the twin beds were small, uncomfortable for two, and the room lacked a refrigerator (which the double rooms had).Final Thoughts:Despite the room issue, the overall experience was good thanks to the location, food, and courteous staff. With a little improvement in room management and allocation, this hotel could easily be a 5/5.

Location is bit away from the main road, so its peaceful.Staffs were very welcoming and helpful.Bathroom was pretty spacious.1st time:Room had an ac but it was controlled from the reception and it acted like cooler, meaning 32 degrees also blowing very chilling cold air.Electrical switches and board were broken, circuit open somewhere!Geaser was also controlled from the reception, thats really awkward!There was a tv but no remote.2nd time:I requested another room at the corner. The room was very nice, everything was almost perfect. The corner rooms are very good for family. Its big and well-lighted.Furthermore, staffs are bit nosy and expect tips from you, which I didnt like at all. And most awkward moment is their check-out policy. Their staff will go to your room, check if anything is missing and then only you are clear to go. I find this bit unusual, but who knows what customers are really upto and in their perspective, maybe taking caution is a good idea.
