The floating huts were separated during a storm, and the user had to be rescued by boat. There was also a power outage.

Family • India • May 2026Stayed 1 night in their Ground Hotel. Great location and lake view from their compound. Couple rooms had mountain + lawn view. We are very fond of birds and the trees & shrubs at the front of their garden as well as in the rear mountain facing side had a lot of wonderful birds. The view of the lake and the lighted Dogra - Chanti bridge in the night were spectacular. The garden & lawns were well maintained with a great variety of wonderful flowers. We had a lot of great walks and completed our steps.While the rooms are very basic, they weren't cleaned in a while. Settled dust everywhere, including in their hotel dining hall. Staff had gone bored out of lethargy and even their own clothes were unwashed & unkempt. Worn out washroom walls were taped together. Our room curtain rod's end locks were missing and so when we opened or closed the curtains, the rod slid on its stand and eventually came off. We fit it back. Later we found the curtain rod's end locks in some drawer, but not sure why they had not put them on. No shower curtain in the washroom, meant the water spread everywhere in the spacious square-shaped washroom. Their toilet was clogged & flushed slowly on first day and later on second day it actually back-flushed to our horror and disgust. It felt like they knew about it but instead of fixing it fully & testing it thoroughly, they just allotted that room to us.Food was very good, but a bit expensive & felt like exploiting of captive audience.This location requires a vehicle with you all the time & not a one-way cab drop.If they fix these small things, this hotel has a lot of things going for it like the wonderful lake-bridge views, birds, beautiful garden, lawn, flowers, wonderful weather. If the same staff can become alert and more proactive and if they carry out the minor repairs & upgrade the rooms to be prim & proper with daily timely checking of all the parameters, it can become a great hotel.
Floating Hut is very scenic. Especially, the view in the evening with dinner, live singer & lighted Dogra-Chanti bridge in the background. Mornings & afternoons, the sunlight reflected off the water is too bright & hot with no shades on the floating platform except the restaurant part. Walking on the spongy plastic containers path is a bit inconvenient. But walking on the sitting area deck was very comfortable. They should put those plastic tiles of the sitting area deck through out the walking path of the floating platform.Few things should be explained upfront. That the Tehri Lake is actually the holy Bhagirathi river that later merges into Ganga. That's why no alcohol. Also, no swimming or going into the water except if you pay expensive activity rides like Paddle Board / Kayak and fall/jump into water. While there is no WiFi, the mobile data internet connectivity was proper and even phone calls network was good even in the middle of the lake. After the first free check-in boat ride, for every boat round trip they charge Rs.3,000. It's okay that it does not have TV, but they should have more activities for tourists and at very reasonable prices. The whole feeling of every tourist / customer staying there was that you are now at their mercy and they will charge very high cost for everything from food to activity.Every time any speed boat passes the floating platform even from a distance, it creates wake / waves that causes gentle sway / motion of the platform - it does matter to know it upfront to those who have motion sickness but got lured with the scenic photos.
