How Passengers Can Clean Their Train Coaches Just With a Mobile Phone?

Train journeys are always special for various reasons. Memorable times are spent with friends and family, enjoying delicious station food, playing antakshari, and engaging in fun games during the travel. Train travel is synonymous with fun and adventure. The entire journey from booking train tickets to reaching the destination always seems like a dream.

What makes these train journeys even more exciting is the ambiance of the train. Cleanliness is one of the major factors that sets the tone for the journey.

If you ever come across the uncleaned coach or toilets, don’t fret! You can always ask for clean my coach service.

Passengers on long-distance train journeys don’t have to worry about the cleanliness of their coach or toilets anymore, because the ‘On board housekeeping service’ (OBHS) is now available on several trains. With this SMS and web-based monitoring system, passengers can avail Clean My Coach toilet service during the train journey as well, instead of tolerating the filth till the cleaners come in.

The OBHS includes scheduled cleaning of coaches twice a day, and cleaning at any time when a passenger sends in a request.

Two ways of sending a cleaning request:

  • Enter your PNR number and mobile number in a form available on the website – cleanmycoach.com
  • Also, you can opt for clean my coach helpline’. Send an SMS to the clean my coach number 58888 by typing CLEAN < Space >< 10-digit PNR number>

The software known as OBSERVE (On Board Services) redirects the request to the cleaner assigned to the specific train. Once the passenger’s PNR number is verified, OBHS initiates three SMS-based actions.

This is how the notification system works:

  • The first SMS will be sent to the OBHS staff with details of the passenger, including the mobile number.
  • The second SMS goes to the control office with the same details.
  • The third SMS is sent to the passenger with details of the cleaning staff – the name and mobile number.

An automatically generated four-digit security code for feedback is also provided by the Executive Housekeeper (EHK) of OBHS once the coach has been cleaned. The EHK sends an SMS from their mobile to the number 9200003232. Upon receiving this SMS, the cleaning request is automatically marked as completed. However, if the coach is not cleaned within 30 minutes of the initial request, an alert message is sent to the controlling officer.

This system has been implemented to ensure that railway coaches remain clean throughout the entire journey. Information stickers have been affixed to all trains serviced by OBHS, instructing passengers on how to register and clean my coach complaints if necessary.
