Indian Railways Announces 1000 New Vacancies; Check How to Apply Here

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai, Ministry of Railways is inviting applications for the post of Apprentice. A total of 1000 vacancies are available against various trades such as Carpenter, Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, Painter, Welder, MLT Radiology, MLT Pathology and PASAA.

Educational qualifications

For freshers: 

  • Fitter, Electrician, and Machinist – Candidates must have passed class 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) with Science and Maths under 10+2 system or its equivalent.
  • Carpenter, Welder and Painter – Candidates must have passed class 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) under 10+2 system or its equivalent.
  • MLT (Radiology and Pathology) – Candidates must have passed class 12th the under 10 + 2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.


For Ex-ITI:

  • Fitter, Electrician and Machinist – Candidates must have passed class 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) with Science and Maths under the 10+2 system or its equivalent and must also have a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above.
  • Programming and System Admin Assistant – Candidates must have passed class 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) and must also have a National Trade certificate in the trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above.
  • Carpenter, Painter and Welder – Candidates must have passed class 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) and must also have a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above.

Please note: Candidates with higher qualifications such as Engineering / Degree / Diploma are not eligible to apply.

Selection process

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their class 10th marks, while for Medical Lab Technician (MLT) aspirants, the merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in class 12th. In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate will be preferred.
