Good price but a little disappointing in parts

by JohnPerkins on 26 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

This is a hotel is in a good part of London and clearly has recently been modernised. It's good that it's a family run hotel so I'm reluctant to be critical, but I do feel there are a few things to mention. when I arrived I was met by a very pleasant receptionist who was good throught the stay - (she served breakfast the next day). I had a small single room which is fine and it was tastefully decorated. However, the room was cold from the start, despite the radiator being turned full on. Indee...

Will definitely go back

by Hisimp on 23 Nov 2016 (Business Traveller)

Only spent one night here and managed to negotiate a good deal arriving from the street. The receptionist was most obliging and showed me both rooms that were still available. I chose the better one on the first floor rather than the more basic one in the basement. The wifi worked well and the bed was comfy. It was a perfectly good room and the shower was fine. Next meaning the breakfast was a little basic and the poached eggs, although cooked fresh, were nothing to write home about. That sai...

Basic on everything except the price

by Andrew D on 28 Oct 2016 (Family Traveller)

The Melita offers a basic hotel service but charges enough to expect a bit more. For £189 a night WiFi without a £10 surcharge is not too unreasonable! The rooms are clean but dated - the room manual talks about the family owning it since the 1970s which is echoed by the fake wood laminated walls and teak bannister (the gap underneath which a child could fall from). Breakfast is ok if a bit ungenerous and served in a tiny dining area. Overall this is a hotel which is all about getting maximum re...

The Melita

by Abby058 on 16 Oct 2016 (Family Traveller)

I have just come back from 8 nights at the Melita hotel in a Superior Single room. It was a nice BnB hotel to stay at in a good, handy location. My bed was a little on the hard side for my taste and the room was very small. Having said that, it was exactly as described by the Hotel, so no surprises. There is no lift and I had 3 flights of stairs but they were not hard to negotiate even though quite narrow. It was very clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was more than adequate though no...

No disappointment

by jldevlin on 28 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

We were in London as part of a large European vacation September 22 23 and 24... we booked The Melita knowing what to expect and were satisfied with our choice, The Melita is a 10 minute walk to Victoria Station and 15 to The Victoria coach station, in fact our hop on hop off tour stopped at 7pm and we were in Piccadilly Circus at the time, it was a 2.2 km walk back to our hotel and at no time did we feel unsafe....the location was perfect, even better than we thought as we could walk to a lot o...
