The renovated New Delhi railway station will have separate entry and exit points, such as airport arrivals and departures. There will be elevated access roads around the premises to ensure smooth access into the railway station.
Some of the other facilities in the plan include more platforms, multi-level car park, food courts, lounges, etc.
Similarly, the RLDA has floated proposals for the development and leasing of multi-functional complexes in Agra and other cities. These complexes will have multiple facilities like shopping, restaurants, ATMs, pharmacies, parking spaces, budget hotels and more.
The Indian Railways is doing its best to ensure that passengers experience a safe and comfortable journey. In the current times, amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the national transporter is already working on improving facilities and safety measures at the railway stations. They are constantly upgrading with new infrastructure such as contactless ticket checking, automated face dispensers, luggage disinfecting machines, mask dispensing machines and so on. Regular sanitisation is being done at stations in innovative forms using robots and varied machines.
