5 days in heaven

by Diane S on 13 Feb 2019 (Solo Traveller)

What a exquisite building and fabulous location....the drive there is a bit arduous but once you arrive ....it is absolute bliss. The staff is terrific....they are thoughtful, considerate and seemingly available around the clock. Sudhan is the wonderful overseer and guide. He has an amazing eye and is more than happy to point out monkeys, butterflies, birds and all the treasures of this special part of Tamil Nadu. the library is delightful and wide ranging. The food is plentiful and delic...

Beautiful and peaceful retreat

by SurreyConnie on 01 Feb 2019

We were recommended to stay at this estate "if we had the time" definitely make the time because it is worth it. We had a wonderful 3 night stay. On a 3 hour walk saw monkeys, large squirrels and lots of exotic birds. Would advise taking some binoculars and a camera with a long lens. Communal dinner table which was great fun each evening, Breakfast and lunch served at small tables dotted around the grounds.

Magical retreat in Western Ghats

by peterjuduk on 30 Jan 2019 (Friends Traveller)

Conversations at table with fellow guests were unusually lively and amusing. All the rooms were well appointed and opened out dir...

Stunning location, beautiful building, chic interiors and lovely staff

by Sophie H on 23 Jan 2019

Rajakkad is a peaceful retreat set in fifty acres of mixed coffee, hardwood and spice plantation. The building itself is an exquisitely restored Keralan palace with the loveliest interiors filled with a glorious mix of stylish furnishings both antique and modern. They offer various walks up into the hills led by the excellent Sudhan who like all the staff come from the local village and are kindly and efficiently managed by Robesh, who has been at Rajakkad from the beginning and is a really love...

Mountain Paradise

by Vagbond_Islanders on 24 Dec 2018 (Couple Traveller)

Rajakaad Estate is an extraordinary peaceful respite above the plains of Tamil Nadu. One awakes to birdsong and total calm. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in one of the many private nooks around the grounds. Climb the mountain or explore the estate guided by Sudhan. The library is filled with everything you need to study India and its rich history. Robesh will answer all your questions about this gem of a building - a traditional wooden palace - moved from Kerala and rebuilt with obvious love and car...
