Not quite what I expected.....

by i0k0 on 09 Feb 2019

We chose this hotel for its position away from the bustle of central Udaipur and for its gardens and swimming pool. These all lived up to expectations. The building, and its setting, are lovely - the basic rooms, however, did not live up to expectaton (although we were assured that a program of renovation and make over is in progress) - a shame we were a year early! The staff were very good indeed, especially the elderly waiter who anticipated all our needs despite his broken english. Good laund...

TERRIBLE HOST

by Shramana G on 15 Jan 2019 (Family Traveller)

i visited this property in dec 2018 for one night there were no heaters in the room and not even flasks. the deluxe rooms mentioned in the website are different from the ones that we were allotted. we paid in excess of rs 7000 for the 2 rooms. while one was still okay for the price, the other room in so called rangniwas palace was bad.not worth Rs 1500 perhaps. the solar water heaters took good 30 min for hot shower in the evening, the temp was good 8 degrees and yet, the host, an elderly gentle...

Beautiful hotel and rooms

by Loquitaquita on 10 Jan 2019 (Solo Traveller)

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, as are the rooms. Out of an old movie. The gentleman who owns the place is lovely as are the wait staff. I will leave it at this as my mom always told me that if I don’t have anything good to say, don’t say it.

Old but Gold

by dr_acm on 24 Dec 2018 (Couple Traveller)

This is a very old charming small hotel, still running with old world style, furniture, staff and most importantly Charm. centrally located, very close to City palace & Lake Pachola, large rooms furnished with antique comfortable furniture, clean rooms, linen & bathrooms. Food is very tasty served in old world style by Mr Balak Ram serving here since 1981. manager Mr shrimaali is reserved but helpful, Owners live there and still has grace & hospitality of age gone by.

Excellent Place to Stay

by manjunathhubli on 27 Nov 2018 (Family Traveller)

This property is located in Mid of the City and just 100mts away from City Palace Gate. Cleanly pool, Awesome Staff , Well maintained and good food. Manager was very helpful and gave good Advise and well planned for us wrt to site seeing. Most of the places are just few minutes away from this Hotel. We hired Honda Activa (Rs 400 for 10hrs + Fuel) and traveled around for Site Seeing in which we enjoyed the ride and also saved some money. Feedback for this Hotel is to Install Handwash Sink near t...

In a Nutshell

The biggest hook for travellers coming to Udaipur lies in its historical gems like the City Palace, Jagadish Mandir, Gangaur Ghat and Lake Pichola. Along with this comes the draw of the atmospheric stays that have a heritage appeal. For travellers, Udaipur is a walker’s haven with everything pretty close in the old walled city. It is advisable to stay in this part of town so that one nac completely immerse in the cultural vibe and local falvour of the place. Hotel Rangniwas Palace epitomizes the high hospitality standards and the heritage ambience of Udaipur, with its historical draw. This was built during the reign of Maharana Sajjan Singh, who was the King from 1874-84 as a platform. It is from here that the Maharaja used to watch the ceremony of Sithala Asthami and later folk performances. This itself is reason enough to book the hotel. Here, you get a slice of history and an opportunity to live the royal life.
