Old, old style pub stay

by longbich on 31 Oct 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Above hostel level, above street level. 3 storeys to lug luggage up narrow stairs. Clean comfortable beds, very good showers and toilet but only one per gender located down the hall. Close to Capitol Theatre, Cnr Pitt & Campbell Sts. Two and a bit blocks to Central station. Check in seemed to be longer than usual with form filling & ID checking. $80 a double or triple pretty reasonable.

Only if you have too.

This hotel maybe in a heritage building and the facilities are definitely very, very old - in dire need of maintenance - or even a good clean! Yes - it is central to southern CBD and yes it is relatively cheap ($200 for a 4 bed room) but I won't stay here again. The beds were comfortable but there were no top sheets so we had to sleep under blankets that had not be laundered. The shared bathroom was disgusting with a shower that leaked all night. The noise from the surrounding area was loud but...

POOR VALUE BASIC ACCOMMODATION

by fatheralbert on 20 Oct 2016 (Solo Traveller)

An overnight here cost a whopping $185 for what should be $100 at most. The place is in a great location 5 minutes from Central Station and access to most of Sydney. I was also able to grab a good warm shower in the share bathroom. That was about the end of the good stuff. The share bathroom was basic and generally unpleasant. Silly absences like plugs for wash basins, meaning the waste of lots of water if brushing teeth or shaving, are unusual and annoying. In the very basic room there was no ...

First Time In A Hostel

by TheHotelInspectorAU on 29 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

A last minute trip to Sydney necessitated a stay in a Hostel so not to pay exorbitant room rates. Had a 3 person room - a double bed with a single bunk above. I was pleasantly surprised by the state of the room. They supplied blankets, towels and shampoo, conditioner and body wash. While I'd never stay in a Hostel again I feel this establishment was perfectly adequate and is obviously much improved from when some of the earlier reviews were posted.

Typical backpackers

by hayles88 on 28 Aug 2016 (Friends Traveller)

We had a reunion with friends from the states so we needed somewhere cheap, central and with a few people to fit in one room. This ticked all the boxes. We had no problems. Having no lift wasn't fun with a room up on the top floor but my legs got a good workout. Bathrooms were relatively clean, and the staff were friendly.
