Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan Among States with Extended Lockdowns

The month of May in India saw a majority of Indian states imposing lockdown and curfew restrictions to control the COVID caseload in the country, and many states are now opting for extending the restrictions till month-end or even the first week of June.

Today’s update is regarding the extension of lockdown and curfew restrictions in seven states, namely Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Here are all the details:

Uttar Pradesh

As per media reports, the Uttar Pradesh government has yet again extended the partial corona curfew currently in force in the state, this time till May 31. All essential activities, such as vaccination, medical activities, etc. are exempted from the curfew:

Bihar

In an update posted on his official Twitter handle, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that since the lockdown in Bihar is helping to reduce the COVID cases, it will now continue up till June 1:

Jharkhand

The lockdown imposed in Jharkhand under the Swasthya Suraksha Saptah (Health Safety Week) has yet again been extended with the existing conditions, this time till 6 am on June 3:

Rajasthan

In a series of Tweets, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced that the Jan Anushasan Lockdown in Rajasthan has now been extended till June 8. He also appealed to the public to continue following COVID safety protocols:

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand has extended the COVID curfew in the state yet again, this time till 6 am on June 1. The official order also states that all existing curfew guidelines will remain in force till the aforementioned date.


Himachal Pradesh

After a careful review of the situation in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has extended the corona curfew in the state till 6 am on May 31 with the existing guidelines:

Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has also opted for an extension of the lockdown currently in effect in the state. The lockdown, which was due to end on May 24, has now been extended till May 31:
