Here is all you need to know: 

As part of the ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative, lifts and escalators are being installed at railway stations across the country for the specially-abled, aged individuals and children. So far, 497 stations have been provided with the same.

1090 escalators at 339 stations and 981 lifts at 400 stations have been put in place up to August 2022.

According to Railway regulations, escalators are provided in state capitals and cities with populations of more than 10 lakh, as well as stations with a daily footfall of more than 25,000.

As per policy, General Managers/Zonal Railways are authorised to select the stations/platforms which qualify for the provision of lifts, considering various factors such as footfall and space constraints.
