Starting 19th July, i.e., today, Canada has resumed mandatory random COVID-19 testing for travellers who qualify as fully-vaccinated. This rule only applies to visitors who enter the country through these four major airports: Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto.

The testing will take place outside of the airports. Travellers can complete their test in person or pick up a self-swab kit at select test provider locations and pharmacies, or through a virtual appointment for a self-swab test.

To qualify as fully vaccinated, travellers must have received a primary series of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Canadian Government at least 14 days before travel. Covishield and Covaxin are both acceptable in the country.

Unless exempt, travellers who don’t qualify as fully vaccinated, however, must still provide proof of a valid pre-departure test result. They must also continue to test on Day 1 and Day 8 of their mandatory 14-day quarantine.
