Black Sheep Bed and Breakfast

I stayed in their female dorm for two nights and had a fantastic time. The place is right in the center of the market, the rooms are very clean, and the hospitality is excellent. The food is tasty, and the café provides a lovely view. Special thanks to Hussain Bhai, who always gives great café suggestions and helps plan your day. Since I was traveling alone, he sometimes accompanied me so I wouldn't feel lonely. They also sell a charming range of handmade items. I bought two postcard sets and wanted to send some to my friends. After I left, the hosts kindly agreed to mail the postcards for me, which was a very thoughtful and meaningful act showing their warmth. I will definitely return when I visit Kargil again.

Mohommed, the manager, was very friendly and offered excellent suggestions for local attractions. Every staff member, from the diner to the hotel service, made us feel warmly welcomed and were very accommodating. The location and food were wonderful, but it was the staff that truly made our stay outstanding!

Ideal accommodation in Kargil for solo travelers and couples. The check-in process was seamless. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. I accidentally left my power bank at the reception when checking out and went straight to Leh. I realized it halfway and called to see if they could send it to Leh. The next day, it arrived well-packaged without any delivery charge, even though I offered to pay. Thanks to Blacksheep.

I traveled 250KMs from Srinagar to Kargil and arrived by evening. After showering, I wanted some tea because I had a mild headache and work to do. The cafe manager told me the tea would take time, but I ordered anyway, thinking it wouldn't be long. Surprisingly, after about 30 minutes, when I asked about the tea, the manager seemed unaware of my order and again said it would take time. I waited another hour with no tea served. Meanwhile, several outsiders were served before me while I waited like a beggar. I understand delays but not such arrogance! Later, I had to bring my own dinner to my room despite requesting room service. People are not fools—they can choose cheaper hotels. We pick places like this for the extra amenities. I can't wander Kargil streets at night just for tea. I paid over 3K for a night expecting a safe, convenient stay. Black Sheep fails at that. I can't recommend it. It's close to being shut down by better competitors like Zostel and Hosteller. Their in-house cafe seems to prioritize outside groups for extra income, knowing guests depend on them. Luckily, I stayed only one night; otherwise, who knows what else I'd face. Please stay safe and avoid Black Sheep. They seem short-staffed and only worth dorm stays, not private family rooms. Private rooms are okay but lack basics like an electric kettle. Avoid at all costs! One extra star for staff help with luggage; otherwise, this place deserves just one star.

The accommodation was very aesthetically beautiful. I stayed there for only one night but really liked the place. I was amazed with its beauty and attention to detail. The restaurant had a wonderful ambience and had a very cheerful person handling it. The menu catered to all taste buds and the food was very delicious. On the top the manager and staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The manager took time out to interact with every guest. I would love to stay there again for longer duration and go on treks they organize.
