Ekaiva Resort New Tehri - A Boutique Lake View Hotel

The place was great, room service was satisfactory, the rooms were average, and the location was fantastic with an amazing view from the resort.

The location and service are good, but the rooms get very hot. Make sure to choose a room with AC. It's close to Tehri Lake but far from the bridge, so plan your booking accordingly.

Basic accommodation, not justified for the cost, but the staff is helpful. The location is quite ordinary. Tehri lake can be seen only from a distance.

From an Australian's viewpoint, we had high hopes for this accommodation after some tough travel. Unfortunately, disappointment started as soon as we parked our motorbikes in a rocky, rubble-filled area that felt like a construction site. The unsafe stairs and the path to our room were just as bad. The reception area was dirty and smelled strongly of rotting garbage, and we only stayed because it was late. The kitchen behind reception was revolting, though we were told the food was prepared elsewhere, which was a relief. The room was advertised as air-conditioned but wasn’t, and the photos on Agoda didn’t match reality at all, which also reflects poorly on Agoda. The place was unfinished, the bathroom was terrible, the wifi was weak, and there was no hot water in the morning. The staff were unfriendly and seemed bothered by us, and English was hardly spoken, which is understandable. The stay was supposed to be peaceful, but the manager was loudly talking on his phone outside our door at midnight, and even after we asked him to be quiet, he just moved nearby. Early morning noise from 6 am was also disruptive. The cost was the biggest issue—far too high for what was offered; even a quarter of the price would be too much. Overall, the experience was far below expectations, and we cannot recommend this place.

A review from a Westerner’s perspective (Australians).We were really looking forward to this accomodation after some hard traveling leading up to our stay. We were disappointed from the moment we parked our motorbikes. The parking area was rocky and rubbly - basically a construction zone. This was the case going up the unsafe stairs and to our room. At the unclean reception area, the smell of rotting garbage was strong - the only reason we stayed was it was getting quite late. We looked inside the kitchen (behind the reception) and were disgusted. It was fetid. We were assured that the food came from offsite - thank god! The room was supposed to be air conditioned - it was not. The pictures on the Agoda site were nowhere near the reality. Nothing was finished properly and the bathroom was a disgrace. The wifi was very weak. There was no hot water in the morning. The staff were surly and it seemed we were a burden. English was virtually non-existent (can’t blame them for that). The stay was promoted as being peaceful - it was nothing like it. The manager was still yabbering on his phone (on speaker) outside our door at midnight. We had to tell him to keep it down - he just moved into the kitchen, still in earshot. The noise from 6.00 am was also in inappropriate. The biggest issue was the cost. It was ridiculously expensive for what it was. We would suggest that 1/4 of the price would be too much. We could go on and on. The upshot is that the stay was no where near what it should have been. We cannot recommend anyone staying here.
