The Elgin Mount Pandim-Pelling

Amazing location with stunning views, especially when the sun and clouds don't overlap.

The location, viewpoint, and historical significance are definitely impressive, but the rooms require a lot of maintenance and cleaning. We encountered spiders, bed bugs, and flies in our rooms. Visitors appreciate heritage sites, but they also expect fully serviced rooms.

The rooms are very well done and far better than Elgin in Gangtok. However travel to the other rooms/ wing is very cumbersome given the terrain is not really walkable. The walk to breakfast daily is very ardous. My last day today here over a 3 nights stay and i have faced this daily. Old and senior citizens are seen struggling up and down.The other thing is service. Its slow and breakfast is very chaotic. Zero management of guests - servers forget, refills for buffet are late and its hot inside the restaurant in the morning breakfast hour. Room service arrives but half the time they forget to get basics like achar or onions. Dishes are not available from one day to another - there is a room menu but things are said to be unavailable. Given the walk uphill room service is a better bet. They claim to have a generator but ive spent 5 hours one night with no electricity and no one reachable for help either as lines were cut and we were in another wing of the resort - its beautiful outside but the view can do little at 3 am and no electricity. Helpless situation. This was a horrible experience not expected at a 4 star facilityTo make things worst, the room ordering ( in room dining) and food was not discounted which is something most resorts do and im an avid traveller so i know this to be true. We never order room service regularly till we talk discounts. Here we were flatly refused and we had no choice given the navigation for food outside is tough. We were staying 3 nights and You dont want to go hunting at night with no car or return facility.So great view and location but many issues with the resort

The rooms are very well designed and much better than Elgin in Gangtok. However, moving between rooms or wings is quite difficult due to the terrain being hard to walk on. The daily walk to breakfast is very tiring. Today is my last day after a 3-night stay, and I have experienced this every day. Elderly and senior guests struggle with the ups and downs. Service is another issue. It's slow, and breakfast is very disorganized. There is no proper guest management—servers forget orders, buffet refills come late, and the restaurant is hot during breakfast hours. Room service does come, but often they forget essentials like achar or onions. Some dishes are unavailable from one day to the next despite a room menu. Considering the uphill walk, room service is preferable. They say they have a generator, but I spent 5 hours one night without electricity and no one was reachable for help since phone lines were down and we were in another wing. The surroundings are beautiful, but the view doesn't help at 3 am with no power. It was a helpless situation and a terrible experience, not what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. To make matters worse, room service and food were not discounted, unlike most resorts. As an experienced traveler, I know this is common. We usually don't order room service unless discounts are offered, but here they refused outright. We had no choice because going out for food at night is difficult without a car or transport. So, while the view and location are great, the resort has many problems.

Lovely property featuring heritage rooms that offer stunning views of the Kanchenjunga ranges. The food served was excellent. Definitely a must-visit for a luxurious and peaceful experience.
